Mein Kampf

Things are on a pejorative note – for Long long long and long !

Somehow convinced myself finally , geared up to the copy of – Mein Kampf – the autobiography of Hitler - heralded as one of the most readable in the autobiograpy genre.

( Thanks to my younger brother who left the copy when he visited me last time ) .

The first look is as of hellhole though – considering it’s gonna be around 600 pages of read.

Nevermind anyways !

Clash in the Class

This post is dedicated to the Bygone-days-Strifes we used to have in Engg college days between the 1st Benchers and the 2nd benchers.

So at the outset , let me begin with the intro of the dudes in the groups –

1st Bench – Amritam , Sayantan , Ajith , me and Swarupam ( The order covers the way we used to sit from R to L)

2nd Bench – Kaushik , Vikas , Anish , Shyam and Kishore ( Well ,barring the first guy , they never used to follow a sitting order  )

And we took pride in calling ourselves the Rivals ( Although as a matter of fact , we were a bunch of good friends).

Yeah let me sum up what we all used to possess –

Kaushik – The proverbial do-gooder guy , always there to help a friend and yes to kill with his p.js..

Vikas – Another p.j. and pathetic shayari master. The “Universal Bhaiya” who used to treat every girl as his sister. This Marwadi was known for his “Kanjoosi” and for being one of the most helpful and decent guy.

Anish – Unimaginably simple and nice guy who used to fall for every other girl in the class ☺.

Shyam – He was a kid – we will talk about him only when he turns an adult

Kishore – The only way to befriend this guy – Tell him you don’t like Michael Schumacher

Amritam – The funny guy with a real good sense of humour and the dirtiest room in the hostel

Sayantan – Mr. “Tension-Bhadra” – who had a really good penchant for getting tensed at the slightest possible excuse. The Topper of our batch.

Ajith – If u r in the mood of getting someone angry with minimum effort , pick this guy. Neverthless a tailor-made partner in crime.

Swarupam – The weirdest fellow of the entire gang , no one could match his uncertain moves – the most unpredictable guy.

However words apart , we had the bestest of fun in those days – be it the Leg-pullings , the innumerable Mass-bunkings ( although sometimes the Mass included only these 2 groups ) , Naming teachers , Birthday celebrations , Playing DART in SB and NS class ( Thnks Vikas for reminding me of this activity ), Copying in Internals - the pranks stood with no limits.

Well 2nd benchers if u are thinking I have mellowed down while writing this , pause a moment – You will always be our Opponents. So stay in that way – to avoid complicating things and to Value the Tradition we have been following so far. Let’s not call ourselves “Friends” - we Hate you  All

And now to the other readers if , at all, the words sound a bit ambiguous ( Am pretty sure , they do), let me put it in a simpler way – We are , actually, a little Complicated and with Us it’s always Complicated !

Cheers guys !

Bread and Butter ki kahani

21st June – Just finished 4 years in the Corporate World – And Boy ! It’s been one of the most exciting Roller-Coaster ride of my life.

Still remember the day , when I embarked upon the gate of Perot Systems in Bangalore. Just another fresh face , straight from the college campus to the big-bad Corporate world - the heart was fraught with mixed feelings – Nervous of an uncertain work-life ahead and excited about the monthly paycheck henceforth.

Sad that the College fun would be missing and expected some really serious , gloomy faced , Specy people to surround me for an entire 8 hours from then on.

But on the contrary I would say – it turned out to be the second most fun frolic place and if you consider that , every month-end u get paid , then probably it’s even better than college itself !
The most happening time ? Bench period. Oh yes ! How can I forget the Bench days – The daily routine was like – come to office , enjoy food , drink coffee , play games , watch movies , do surfing , chat , orkut , sleep if u could manage , and finally go home. End of the month , u get paid despite all this fun. I mean can anything get better than this ? That time was heaven.
But then once I moved to project things did change – started getting busy and saddled with work.

Days went by , projects one after another started bringing forth changes in the thinking – becoming more professional and matured everyday.

In between a change in Company , brought me to another new organisation – but this time with some corporate knowledge and thinking under the belt. Then again same work – life went on.

And 4 years passed just like that.

Football Fever

The Galactic show is back - World Cup Football 2010 !

Amongst the monotonous telecast of every-other-day-played-cricket , a Welcome relief comes in the form of World Cup Football 2010.

The world looks so united and euphoric this season. We rejoice over the game – the Heads , the Passes , the strategic Goals , the excitement , the ravishing celebration – truly Football is the most celebrated game in the world.

The Giants – Brazil , Spain , Portugal , Argentina , Germany , Italy , England all geared up for the display - the skills cumulated over the four years. However , this game too has a very high share of uncertainty when it comes to winning the match. Apart from the widely accepted winning and strong teams , there are many Underdogs who can turn really formidable and unstoppable at times. The past World Cups has innumerable instances of so.
The one point that turns World Cup even more formidable – is the reality that OFF World Cup ,no matter however celebrated big team you are , whatever no of matches you might have won – If you havn’t lifted that Cup ever , then  It’s all in Vain !
And at such moot point , all the teams seems to share only three Mantras for the World Cup –

If you had won , Retain the glory,
If you had ever won , Revive the glory ,
And if you have never won , Attain the glory !

Words and fun apart , we Indians would still have our share of agony – obvious from our so prominent absence in the World Cup. Not that we are devoid of talent , it’s the culminated disinterest to pile up the talent which is to blame. The money , time and fame spent on Cricket has been so sky-high , that little room is left for the survival of the other games. Its high time that we are awake of the long lull and give Football and the nascent talent , the attention it so badly deserves. And yes – to have our very own Indian team of high repute.

Till then , let’s enjoy the one month show !

Flying Bullets

Do Bullets fly straight ?

An absolute NO in the world of  Mechanics.

All horizontally thrown objects follow a projectile or semi-projectile motion – the maximum distance ( Range in Physics term ) covered when thrown at 45 degree angle to the ground.

Well anyways I am not here to dig up Mechanical Physics.

Just happened to remember something I heard – “If no one ever told you that Bullets fly straight , how would you do?”

It has a pinch of human psychological texture (About the way Human minds are Conditioned ) standing non-uniformly against a celebrated Physics theory.

Quite thought-provoking though !!!

Guilt-Free

Beparwah ho gaye hain, behaya ho gaye hain
Befikrr ho gaye hain Hum
Beparwah ho gaye hain, behaya ho gaye hain
Befikrr ho gaye hain Hum

Jalke, dhua - dhua jal jal ke
Barse, maange Tu jo marr marr ke
Tu yeh khwabon mein bhi chahega, duawon mein bhi maangega,
tu phir bhi na payega
Chori, uspe cheena japti hai
Wo hi, kismat aise batt ti hai
Dekho, khel mein jo sota hai
Seekho, Sale wo hi hota hai
Tu jo dekhta hi jayega, jo lootna na aayega, Tu haar ta hi jayega
De dekho, dao pe zamana hai
Bhakko, jeet ke hi jaana hai.....

Soul-Curry

I knew not to say those words

I knew not what that look meant

I knew not what to look for

I knew not if they were surreal

I knew not if the gaze was for real

I knew not if the plan would work

I knew not if I was right or wrong

I knew not why it all din’t work out

So I fell and stumbled again & again

But then , they were all in the Past !

For the rest, it’s an open and ticket-free journey – the feeling of a Free and United World is so much prominent here.

People are so diverse in opinions , ideas and way of thinking – from the jubilant writing of a 18-year-old’s blogs to the highly matured scribbling by a 45-year-old guy ( there are obviously exceptions !) , English has it’s flavour splitted all around .

It's Not Cricket

It’s Not Cricket” – was the line from a prose by Jim Corbett that I had read long back . I am not going to pen that article now – but just wanted to reiterate the context – he meant the respect , the adulation with which the game ( Cricket) is looked upto . And others need a Class of their own to match the level of cricket – such is the edifice of the game - so not all are cricket.

Then given the recent pandemonium we have had over IPL , the game for sure had lost its respect in my eyes. I know saying so I would draw lots of despised looks for sure .

But for once lets get our facts and figures right – this game had been one of the major stumbling blocks for the other sports in India. I am not against cricket – I do love watching as well as playing this game. But the money and the time – injected into the game turns out to be a farce - legitimately proven by our dismal performance. We win one match and then  lose three at a stretch ! Our fluctuating performance proved again and again by the fact that - We win against any team as well as Lose against any team !!!
Not all teams are constant performer – but we aren’t even closer to being that !! And cricketers , nowadays, are more of a money-minting machine than a sportsperson. The innumerable tv Ads are the vivid corroboration to the same - where Practice is swapped with Acting. More so the IPL hullabaloo glorifies the limelight associated with the game more than the game itself !

Cricket fanaticism has always enveloped a pall of negligence onto the other sports in our country. India is so neck-deep playing cricket that all the other sports like – football , hockey , boxing are still at their nascent stage. Inspite of the pejorative attitude towards these games and the players alike , occassionaly there's  been display of the spark of talent , shine and potential powerhouse that’s in store – untouched. Have we ever cared about our big absence in Football World Cup ? Even if we put half of the money spent on cricket onto the survival of these sports , the reaping would be galore.

Let all sports enjoy the same attention and financial injection. It’s not enough playing just cricket – India does have a vast pool of affluent talent and hence need to prove the mettle on every sport !!!

Impossible is Nothing

It was a regular after-office hour at home. While surfing net , found the the site - http://www.attitudeisaltitude.com/ .

And I was stuck-dumb !

The site is about the guy – Nick Vujicic. So what’s special about him ?
Well to answer that – this guy does not have his hands and feet and guess what he says – No hands , No Feet , No Worries !!!

It was a really Touching and tremendously Inspiring read at the same time.
Have we ever imagined being born without arms and feet ? This guy is born so and Kudos to him for the way he has led his life – as a torch-bearer to thousands despite his physical disability.

Nick does everything what a normal person does – he swims , plays golf & football , works on his computer. He leads a normal life without giving a damn to what he doesn’t have. And the most brilliant part is he is striving to bring forth the same MAGIC to enhance the lives of others - employees, employers, students , educators and the common man alike.

Hats Off to Him !

Now lets face it . The modern day people –
We frown so much that we forget to smile,
We hate so much that we forget to love,
We dislike so much that we forget to live ,
We complain so much about things we don’t have that it shrouds the gifts that we possess.

All of us are good and unique in our own way. I can’t think of a better example than Nick. Thanks Nick for paving the way – each and every endeavour of your’s is a stunning inspiration for us.

And for the rest of the common junta – Please go through the above site and stop complaining about life !

And So it Goes

It’s been a long journey , a real long one. Smitten by the unneeded and non-plausible aspects all the way so far. But that’s it. I am tired of playing Sophomore!

It always was more of others than me. Mislaying one’s own self-image under one’s own nose is the dirtiest way of surviving. More so if you are aware of it but not doing something enough about it.

It’s not worth to let yourself go astray for others – not in this cut-throat jet age. Do so and you are the best target of circumstances.

The last 8 years in this city has brought forth tremendous changes – the care-for-everybody teenager has fought numerous mental battles within and outside himself just to realize that if you are not happy with yourself & don’t love yourself first , you are not going anywhere. And if this sounds selfish , then that’s how it is !

The world can take care of itself and we need to take care of ourselves. The last 3 years ,especially, had instilled a zest to live for myself . I seem to have woken up a long lull. For the first time in my life , I feel free - I have learnt to do things which I like and enjoy doing without giving a damn!!! And for the rest of the Mass , Devil may care !!

All of a sudden I remember a line by Sloan ( Morgan Freeman) from the movie Wanted – “It's a choice, Wesley, that each of us must face: to remain ordinary, pathetic, beat-down, coasting through a miserable existence, like sheep herded by fate - or you can take control of your own destiny and join us, releasing the caged wolf you have inside.”

So dude Go for the kill or you won’t go any far !
